Sri Jagannath Dham Puri Yatra with IYF, Kolkta_23.03.12

This was not just a trip but a Yatra to Sri Jagannath Dham Puri by the devotees of IYF, Kolkata lead by Dauji Kripa Prabhu and Ananda bardhan Prabhu along with 18 devotees who have attained DYS and some pursuing Positive thinkers. The boys attained this spiritual trip were from different colleges (Medical, Engineering and General Studies) and few were professionals also.
We started from Howrah, Kolkata on 23rd March at 7.00 p.m. in Jagannath Puri Express, and reached in Puri on 24.03.12 around 5.30 a.m. We put up in Doodhwalla Dharmashala which is near to the Sri Jagannath temple.
After took rest and get fresh we went to the Sri Jagannath temple which was the main interest for coming to puri. The ‘Darshan’ of Lord was devine to us, because last night Srikant prabhu told us the beautiful past time of Lord Sri Krishna and how did he appeared and worshipped in this earth in the form of Sri Jagannath for our liberation. Few of us came first time to Puri, but the darshan of Lord is always exciting for the devotee; Hari Bol. In the main alter we came to know about lots of things and saw various deity and their subsequent temples; like Narshimha deity, Kan-pata Hanuman, Kanchi Ganesh, Bimala Devi, Khir chor gopinath, Bramha Kunda, Maha laxmi temple, Kitchen for Sri Jaganath Bhoga and last but not least the finger print and foot print of Lord Sri Chaittnya Mahaprabhu; Hari Bol.
While coming back we took breakfast prasadam and back to Dharmashala. In Puri it is very special that every food is as equivalent of Sri Jagannath prasadam if someone offers it to the Lord by just looking at the ‘Nil-Chakra’ which is situated at the top of the main alter.
In the room we did mangal arati and then D.K pb took our class on the importance of ‘Sri Keshtra’. At after noon we took our lunch. In the evening we went near the sea. At first we went to the ‘samadhi’ of ‘Hari Das Thakur’ who had direct association of Lord Sri Chattinya Mahaprabhu and was Lord’s great devotee. We did one round chanting in the holy place and after that we went to ‘Tota-Gpoinath’ temple. The deity of lord here is in sitting posture which is very exception. Lord Sri Chaitannya was disappeared in this very deity of Lord Sri Krishna. Of course who can ever take him without lord himself, because Sri Chittnya Mahaprabhu and Sri Krishna both are equal. There was a small hill situated just opposite to the temple called ‘Chatak-Hill’. Lord Sri Chaitannya told that it is as equivalent as ‘Govardhan-hill’ of Vrindavan.
After those we went to sea. The youth devotees were so excited, but the excitement came down while we came to know that as we are in the Yatra but not a trip which others do, so we have to engage our self in devotional way but not fun. So before took in the sea we show our obeisance to the sea i.e ‘Ganga Sagarl’ because this is the sea where Sri Chaitannya Mahaprabhu carried Hari Das Thakur’s material body after he left for ‘Golak’. Finishing our bath we had classes and of course the ecstatic krittyan in the sore of the sea.
Then we went to the Sri Jagannath temple again for darshan and took the ‘Maha Prasad’ inside the temple.
Next day we went to ‘Jagannth Ballav’ garden. This is the garden where Sri Chaitannya Mahaprabhu used to take rest after dancing and Kriyyan in the Rath Yatra festival. King Pratapdittya also got the embraces form Sri Chaitannya Mahaprabhu in this place. We had classes and krittyan also. Then after we moved to ‘Gambhira’ where Sri Chaitannya Mahaprabhu used to stay for few good years and distributed the holy name ‘Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare’. The we went to ‘Sarbabhyam Bhattacharya’s house, where Sri Chaitannya Mahaprabhu showed his 6 arms form to Sarbabhyam Bhattacharya. In each place A.B pb told us the past time and we did kriyttyan. Then we visit the ‘Doodh Ganga’ just opposite to the Sarbabhyam Bhattacharya’s house. After that while coming back to the dharmashala we again went to the temple for the darshan of Sri Jagannath.
After that we came back and took our lunch and prepare for back to Kolkata. In the evening we had few discussion and we shared our experience and feeling and took vow that we will chant more the holy name. D.K.pb also gave us the hint for the December yatra and we became so juvenilient, but cleverly set the target of minimum 16 round chanting. Hope if we endeavor and the mercy of Lord Sri Krishna and Devotees we can achieve the target. Hare Krishna.
As the ending took nearer we pack our luggage and came to the station. By the help of Srikant and Harish pb we managed to collect the sweet (khaja) prasadam for our home. At the station we took the dinner and at 8.05 p.m Puri express started the journey back to Kolkata, and the next morning we came back to the holy birth place of ‘Prabhupada’.

The Danda Mahotshabor Chida-dadhi Festival of Panihati

Raghunatha Dasa Goswami, was the only son of the king of Saptagram (now Adi Saptagram, after Bandle Junction Station). The annual income of Raghunatha dasa's family was twenty lakhs rupees. Raghunatha became the follower of Load Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu from his boyhood, hence wanted to detach from family life. Time to time he ran away from home to get the love of Load Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, but his parents did not wanted to do so, and tried him to keep in the worldly pleasure.
When Load Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu came to Santipur, Raghunatha Dasa revealed his desire to Load and bagged him to take to puri. But the Lord instructed him to go back home, take care of his duties with a mood of detachment and worship Sri Sri Radha-Krishna in the mind and assured him that he would meet him in Sri Jagannath Dham Puri. After that Raghunatha Das went back to home.
After 2 years Load Nityananda Prabhu came to Panihati. Raghunatha Das went to Panihati to meet Load Nityananda Prabhu. Seeing the effulgence of Load Nityananda Prabhu, Raghunatha Dasa was astonished and thus he offered Him obeisances from a distance. Load Nityananda Prabhu saw this and became very please and being by nature very merciful and funny, He told Raghunatha with great affection. 'You thief! Now you have come to see Me. Come here. Today I shall punish you!". But embarrassed Raghunatha Dasa did not go near Him. Then the Lord forcibly caught him, 'You thief, instead of coming near, you stay away at distant place. Now that I caught you, I will punish you! Make a festival and feed all my associates yogurt and chipped rice (dadhi and chida).
Hearing this Raghunatha Dasa became very pleased, and immediately sent his own men to the village to purchase chipped rice, yogurt, milk, sweets, sugar and bananas and organized a wonderful feast. Innumerable brahmanas and saintly persons came to attend that festival.
Then Lord Nityananda Prabhu in meditation brought Load Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu who was unseen. From each and every pot of the devotees Lord Nityananda took one morsel of chipped rice and playfully put it into the mouth of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu also did the same to Lord Nityananda Prabhu , and laughed as He made Him eat it. In this way Lord Nityananda Prabhu was walking through all the groups of eaters and all the Vaishnavas there saw the fun. No one could understand what Nityananda Prabhu was doing as He walked about. Some, however, who were very fortunate, could see that Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was also present.
The next morning, after taking His bath in the Ganges, Nityananda Prabhu sat down with His associates beneath the same tree under which He had previously sat. Raghunatha dasa went there and worshiped Lord Nityananda's lotus feet. Through Raghava Pandita he submitted his desire. "No one can attain the shelter of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu without Your mercy. Although I am unfit and greatly afraid to submit this plea, I nevertheless request You to be especially merciful toward me by granting me shelter at the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu."
Then Lord Nityananda Prabhu placed His lotus feet upon Raghunatha dasa's head and said to him that since he arranged the feast on the bank of the Ganges, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu came here just to show him His mercy eating chipped rice and milk. Now all the impediments meant for Raghunatha's bondage are gone.
To celebrate this wonderful occasion each year devotee perform this massive grand festival, and this is one of the big festival of Vaishnava.

Shame on you to support Arundhati

Few days back in Ananda bazaar patrika the famous Bengali news daily Mr. Goutam Guha (surname may be different) has written few words to support Mrs. Arundhati Roy. Mr. Guha depicted his opinion for the democracy of India and raised a doubt of her maturity of Democracy. In a democratic country everybody has the rights to raise his or her voice if necessary against the nation. In this case Mrs. Roy did the same by showing her sedition to support the separatists Syad Ali Sah Gilani. She speech in a seminar in New Delhi “Bhookhe nange Hindustan se Kashmir ko azad karo”.
Well to some extent I support Mr. Goutam, because if the right to freedom of speech has taken out from the people of India then there will be no difference between us and Chinese Govt. But the anger comes when these so called well educated (buddhi-jibi) people talks against Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasrin etc. Here Mr. Rushid, Ms. Taslima also have shown their freedom of speech. But they looked like against Islam for Mr. Goutam. He cannot tolerate Mr. Rushdie or Ms. Taslima, why? Is he paid by any fanatic Muslims? Then why he can only say for Mrs. Roy but not for Taslima. Mr. Rushdie or Taslima may be against for a religion but here Mrs. Arundhati Roy is against a whole nation. Whichever is great for Mr. Goutam The Mother nation or only Religion?
Mr. Goutam  explained that Muslim community was hurt by Taslima and hence they imposed Fatwa on her, even they did not hesitate to kill her. On the same ground when those Kashmiri separatist wanted to hurt millions of Indian by dividing India again after colonial rule, then Mr. Goutam did not find any justification for them. I thing he knew that lakes of Kashmari Pandit were forcefully turned out from Kashmir. What happen Mr. Goutam you become partial toward Muslims and Kashmiries. Does it not seems to be pseudo secularist? Where the pride to be an Indian gone? Do you expect any booker like Mrs. Arundhati, or you want to oil Mr. Prannoy Roy of NDTV who is a cousin of Mrs. Roy. Are you offered any citizenship from Pakistan or those separatist told that they will give you the permit to stay permanently in azad Kashmir (still today even our President of India cannot buy any land in Kashmir), or ABP paid you for supporting the anti India movement.
Now you are surrounded by lots of questions, please answer them.

The colour of the water is brownish like licqure tea. It was informed that Methene may be mixed up with that water.

Kedarnath and Badrinath Darshans

This is description how to reach Kedarnath- Badrinath Dham the holistic pilgrimage of Hindus.
My friends Alokesh da and Arup bhai (Chhata) went to have a darshan of Sri Sri Badrinath Dham and Kedarnath Dham on the month of September. Kedarnath Dham is the one of the Jotirlinga among 12 Jotirlings of Load Shiva even it is one the place of Pancha Kedar also. These places are open form June to mid November. I am describing the ways of how to reach the Dhams. The timing is not suitable for journey, because it is rainy season and for that there is lot of landslides in the way of Badrinath and Kedarnath. My friends were stuck because of these landslides for few days in Badrinath. For the sake of ease I include myself into the conversation.

Everything was ok after arranging the credentials for the 15 days long tour. We arrange a BSNL SIM card because of communication. We came to know that there is communication problem in Badrinath and only BSNL mobile works. We got lots of wishes from our Vivvsc brothers and Maharaj also.
It was 12.09.10 we started our journey from Kolkata by Kumbha Express at 1.10 p.m.  It was around 27 hrs. journey and we reached at Haridwar at 4.10 p.m. Train fair Rs. 422.

We put up in a Darmashala near the station, the rent was Rs. 200. After getting fresh we went to Har-Ki-Pouri, the famous Ganga ghat for enjoying the Aarti.

14.10.10: The next day morning we get up early for the Kedarnath, distance around 250 k.m. We reached in GMOU bus stand near to the railway station. The bus is available upto Gourikund, fair Rs. 225. The inclined road started after Rishikesh. The snick beauty was wonderful. On the way we got Devprayag where Alaknanda and Bhagarati joining together. Because of landslide the bus stopped before 6 k.m., and we walked that distance and reached to Gourikund around 6.30.p.m. There is dharmashala of Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS) where we put up for the night. The room rent is Rs. 150. As it was the off season so we got the room otherwise getting rooms in BSS is difficult. So my request will be before going those places please contact with them, they have their head office in Ballygunge, Kolkata, India. Please remember in the entire uttrakhand mostly vegetarian food is available. We took our meal there cost Rs. 40 each.

15.10.10: We got up earlier in the morning and had our bath in the hot spring (tapta kunda) in the Gourikund and get refreshed. The temperature was below what we have usually in Kolkata, hence filing cold. We brought sticks of Rs. 10 and raincote of Rs. 10 for the journey. Be sure the raincote is not good enough. We started our journey around 6.00 am. in the morning. There is cowed all the time going toward the Kedarnath, so never felt alone on the road.  The Kedarnath is 14 k.m. away uphill from Gourikund. Rambara is 7 k.m. away from Gourikund where devotee used to take rest. On the way we meet lots of devotees coming from various parts of Hindustan and abroad also. We reached at Kedarnath around 2.00 p.m. and put up in BSS. The other expenses was Rs. 300.

16.10.10: Next day after puja to the Load Kedarnath we went to Gandhi Lake (sarovar) which is 3.5 k.m. away and from there climb down to Gourikund and stay again in the BSS. We kept our luggage in Gourikund BSS ashram for Kedarnath and again while came back to Gourikund we occupied the room again. While coming one of us not totally well, hence he had to take the help of horse, from Rambara it took Rs. 75.

17.10.10: From Kedarnath we took the bus for Badrinath, the distance from Kedarnath to Badrinath is around 270 k.m., Bus fair Rs. 225. River Alakananda flows by the Badrinath. But due to bad weather we were able to reach only upto Josimath, 121 k.m. That night we stay in a hotel in Josimath, rent Rs. 150.
18.10.10: The next day morning we started our journey at 6.00 a.m. The bus is available from the early morning. But near Lambgara we stopped again due to landslide. Here the total journeys of all pilgrims were stopped due to the road blockage. There was only one possibility either set with all the passengers or walk and move ahead; we chose the latter one. We started to walk on the slippery mountain hills along with our luggage accompanied by in cold mountain rain. After going up around one k.m. we reached an unknown village. We managed a house to give us one night shelter against Rs. 200. We had no option but this to passed that night in that rainy and cold weather inside that lickage room.

19.10.10: Next day we started for Badrinath. Badrinath is the place of Load Vishnu. We used to take the roots between the hills so we travelled only 20 k.m. to reach Badrinath, otherwise it would be much more via road. We were the only two person who had reached Badrinath on that particular day, whereas all the transportation were closed due to rain, bad weather and landslide also., so nobody could not either entered or left Badrinath on that day. We put up in to BSS, room rent Rs. 200.

20.10.10: The next day after giving puja to Badridham we went to Mana village which is the last village of Hindusthan, Beyond that is China! There are Ganesh Cave, Vayas Cave also all are near by.

21.10.10: Vasudhara Falls is around 8 k.m. We went as saw all those.

22.10.10: Next day we get up early in the morning and took a holy dip in to the hot spring water in Tapta Kunda. We were in Badrinath for 3 days because of bad condition of roads. So we decided to left Badrinath as early as possible.

23.10.10: Vishnu pada Charan is 3 k.m up the hill from Badrinath. We saw and came back.
24.10.10: The next day we got a bus which was going to Gangotri, so requested them to leave us upto Devprayag.

25.10.10: From Devprayag we came to Rishikesh by truck due to non availability of buses, the distance is 70 k.m, we paid Rs. 120. We put up in a Dharmashala, room rent Rs. 150. That day night we saw Ramjulla, Laxmanjulla ect.

26.10.10: From Rishikesh we visited Chandeshwar Temple, Swamiji’s Cave in the Chandeshwar Temple where Swami Vivekananda did meditation we also saw Nilkantha temple, which is around 10 k.m. by walk. Leopard, bear used to be in the forest on the way to  Nilkanth Temple. By road the distance of Nilkantha Temple is around 25 k.m. but the side scenes were nice.

27.10.10: Next day we came to Haridwar and saw few more temples, Har-Ki-Pouri and Kankhal Ashram, Daksha Yagya Temple. After all we came to the end of our journey. We catch the train Kumbha Express for Kolkata at 00.00 a.m. night.
